"Arrels" is inspired by some dry Spanish landscapes. Fields are full of olive and almond trees surrounded with small plants full of prickles, thorns and spines. They all put their effort and endeavor to grow in such an arid soil.

The region is spotted by small rural villages. One of them, Valderrobres, is my grandparents hometown where I spent most part of my childhood summers. The landscape, the silence and specially the light is mesmerizing.

Pablo Picasso was living and working in one of this region villages. Yo can read his two stages at Horta de Ebre: https://centrepicasso.cat/picasso_in_horta/the-two-stages-at-horta-de-ebre/?lang=en

The algorithm behind "Arrels" draws pure 2D shapes but playing with repetition and random it creates the illusion of a 3D organic entity from those landscapes.

I leave here some photos I took during summer 2020.
